After reading the article, I also found myself guilty of the same mistake and an idea immediately popped up in my mind to create a mind map of my skills and experience. Recently, I came across an article The #1 Career Mistake Capable People Make, which suggested that capable people end up doing lots of projects well but are distracted from what would otherwise be their highest point of contribution. Therefore, instead of worrying about remembering each and every thing that you are learning, you can focus your energies into executing the task at hand. I started thinking about my notes in this format as if I am storing all the data into a secondary storage device which can be quickly loaded into memory when needed. This format allowed me to preserve the information that I am learning in an easy to remember format that could be recalled/revised quickly upon need. I started taking interest in mind mapping technique while I was preparing for my PMP examination and it quickly became my standard note taking technique.
